Breve Historial Profesional


 
Es Ingeniero Agrónomo (1969) y Dr. Ingeniero Agrónomo (1972) por la Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. Realizó estudios de postgrado en EE.UU., en la Universidad del Estado de Dakota del Norte (1973- 1976), en donde obtuvo el Master y Doctorado ( Ph. D.) en agricultura/ control de malas hierbas. Desde 1977 ha dirigido el grupo de Protección de cultivos/ Control de malas hierbas en el Centro I + D de Córdoba. Trabajó un año en la Universidad del Estado de Oregón (1987) como profesor visitante.

Desde 1988 pertenece al Instituto de Agricultura Sostenible (CSIC, Córdoba), en donde es actualmente Profesor de Investigación. Director de numerosas tesis doctórales, autor de varios libros y numerosas publicaciones, y coinventor de varias patentes. Su grupo de investigación ha sido pionero en España en áreas tales como la interacción y control de malas hierbas en los cultivos, uso de herbicidas, agro-medioambiente y posteriormente en agricultura de precisión y teledetección agraria de precisión.

Ha sido presidente de la Sociedad Española de Malherbología (SEMh, 1989-1992) y miembro del Comité Editorial de la Sociedad Europea de Malherbología (EWRS, 1997-2000). También ha sido Presidente de la Asociación Española de Agricultura de Conservación/ Suelos Vivos (AEAC/ SV, 1995- 2001) y de la Federación Europea de Agricultura de Conservación (ECAF, 1998- 2004). Es socio de honor de las referidas sociedades profesionales.
