• The Ph.D. student, Mª Dolores Rey, has been awarded with the best scientific communication in the “International Meeting for Ph.D. students” celebrated in Córdoba (Spain) in June 2012. She presented part of her Ph.D. work entitle “Development of Hordeum chilense and Hordeum vulgare addition and substitution lines in wheat in the background of pairing mutants”.

 

 

 

 

  • Dr. Pilar Prieto has recently obtained a collaborative grant (CSIC-Japanese Society for Promoting Science) with Dr. Nonomura from the National Institute of Genetics (Mishima, Japan) to be carried out during 2012-2013. This ongoing collaboration will try to go deeper into the knowledge of plant meiosis using rice as model species.

 

  • The scientific publication entitle “Root hairs play a key role in the endophytic colonization of olive roots by Pseudomonas spp. with biocontrol activity”, published recently in Microbial Ecology by Prieto et al., has been evaluated in Faculty 1000.

 

  • Dr. Pilar Prieto has been awarded with an ERC Starting Grant presenting the project “Development of super-wheat crops by introgressing agronomic traits from related wild species”.

 

  • The scientific article published in the journal “Proceedings of the National Academic of Science of USA” entitle “Effective chromosome pairing requires chromatin remodelling at the onset of meiosis” by Colas et al., in which Dr. Prieto has actively collaborated, has been evaluated in Faculty 1000.
