Etiology and Control of Crop Diseases
My research interests are focused on agriculture biotechnology and plant microbiology, particularly in the development of biological control tools to be implemented in integrated disease management strategies, using Verticillium wilt of olive as study system among others. Specific lines of research are: 1) Identification and characterization of biological control agents; 2) Study of the molecular and genetics bases of plant(s)-pathogen(s)-biocontrol agent(s) tripartite interactions by ‘-omics’ approaches; 3) Beneficial endophytic bacteria; 4) Molecular and genetic diversity of soil and rhizosphere microorganisms; and 5) Qualitative and quantitative methods for the molecular detection of soil microorganisms.
