Department of Soil, Plant, Environmental and Animal Production Sciences – Faculty of Agriculture - University of Naples "Federico II" (UNINA)
The University of Naples Federico II (UNINA), is the oldest university to have been founded with a State measure and is the oldest secular university in the world. The origins of the Faculty of Agriculture of UNINA date back to 1872 when the School was founded. Landmark scientific, cultural and political development, the Faculty has among its teachers and students, scholars who have contributed in various fields of knowledge and the social sciences to the transformation of agriculture. The scientific staff of UNINA has a long time experience in the chemistry of natural products. The studies include purification, characterization, derivatization and synthesis of bioactive metabolites from microorganisms and plants, and biosynthesis of some active metabolites. The research group of UNINA has been working in close cooperation with biologists, plant pathologists and physiologists, botanists, agronomists, zoologists for many years.

UNINA is a well equipped with analytical instrument, including HPLC, Electrophoresis, FT-IR, UV, Polarimeter, Elemental Analysis, Ionic chromatography, and NMR-, EI- and -ESI MS-spectroscopy and GC and LC-MS and computer with programs of molecular modelling.
