Agroecology of weeds
My lab focuses on understanding the ecological principles underlying weed agroecology with the goal of developing integrated weed management (IWM) strategies under global change scenarios that are economically and ecologically sustainable. At present, research is focused on: a) Development of models for weed population dynamics, b) Agro-ecology of weeds, with emphasis on the development of models of emergence, biodiversity, ecosystem services and the impact of climate change; and c) Agro-ecology of weeds, with emphasis on the development of models of emergence, biodiversity, ecosystem services and the impact of climate change, c) transfer of results to the agricultural sector through the development of computerized decision support systems. To achieve our objectives, we use a variety of approaches, including field experimentation, ecological theory, information technology, simulation modeling and innovative mathematical modeling tools.
