El pasado martes se celebró el Seminario “Subsurface Water Dynamics and Preferential Flow Paths: Insights from Infiltration Experiments, Geophysics Surveys and Numerical Inversions” a cargo del Dr. Simone Di Prima, Department of Agricultural, Forestry, Food and Environmental Sciences (DAFE), University of Basilicata, Potenza, Italy.
The presentation focused on the nexus of ecohydrology lies in multi-approach strategies that integrate field experiments, geophysical measurements, and modeling to provide a holistic understanding of water dynamics within the soil-plant-atmosphere continuum. In particular, advances in geophysical techniques, such as Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), have revolutionized the study of subsurface water processes. GPR surveys provide high-resolution imaging of soil structures and root systems, offering insights into the spatial distribution of soil moisture and subsurface flow patterns. Additionally, numerical modeling complements geophysical investigations by enabling the simulation and prediction of hydrological responses under varying conditions
