AGRICULTURAL BIOTECHNOLOGY, GENETIC TRANSFORMATION, ARN INTERFERENCE, GENOME EDITING, GENOME EDITING

The research line uses genetic transformation and new techniques in agricultural biotechnology such as RNA interference and genome editing (CRISPR/Cas) in applied research on traits of agricultural interest, especially those related to crop quality. Priority objectives are: the cloning of genes from wild species and their incorporation into cultivated species, and the development of cereals with low immunogenic protein content, responsible for celiac disease and other gluten intolerances.RNAi and CRISPR/Cas are used for the development of durum and flour wheat varieties free of immunogenic proteins in relation to gluten intolerances.
