Women for Africa Foundation is excited to announce the launch of the 10th edition of the Science by Women program. This initiative, known for its dedication to empowering African women in the scientific community, offers a unique opportunity for senior African women researchers to conduct their postdoctoral research in prestigious Spanish research centers, including the Institute for Sustainable Agriculture (IAS-CSIC) in Córdoba.

Since its inception in 2014, the Science by Women program has aimed to promote African women’s leadership in scientific research and technology transfer. This year, the program continues to expand, offering fellowships in key areas such as health, biomedicine, sustainable agriculture, food security, water, energy, and climate change.

Collaborating with over 22 renowned Spanish research institutes, each participating center will host one woman researcher for a six-month fellowship (exceptions apply, check the corresponding institute) providing a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment to develop impactful research projects.

To date, the program has supported over 150 talented women, fostering a strong network of African women scientists who contribute significantly to their home countries’ development. The 10th edition aims to further this legacy, exceeding 175 beneficiaries and continuing to build the N.O.W. IS Africa network, which connects past fellows and promotes international scientific cooperation.

The application period is now open, and we invite qualified candidates to apply by September 30 th, 2024.

Detailed guidelines and application forms are available on the Women for Africa Foundation website (https://mujeresporafrica.es/10th-edition-science-by-women/) where you can also find the requirements for the IAS-CSIC ( https://mujeresporafrica.es/science-by-women/institute-for-sustainable-agriculture-2024/)
