The Institute for Sustainable Agriculture is looking for candidate for a fulltime 3.8-year PhD training contract for an H2020 project starting in September 2018. The project: “Soil Hydrology research platform underpinning innovation to manage water scarcity in European and Chinese cropping systems” is a project with nineteen partners between the EU and China and it is aimed to optimize use of soil and water resource while increasing productivity in key agricultural systems in these regions. This project is coordinated through the Institute for Sustainable Agriculture (IAS-CSIC), located in Cordoba (Southern Spain).
The project is looking for a PhD candidate to be hired full time for 44 months during the duration of the project, and been based in Cordoba to develop his/her PhD during this period.
The candidate is expected to work on the subject of hydrological modelling of the spatial variability of soil moisture at field scale and its coupling with vegetation in relation to crop
productivity and erosion control.
Training in agricultural or forestry systems, some programming skills and fluency in English is expected. The position is suited for a candidate with an interest in training in hydrology with an integral vision of its role within agricultural systems in international cooperation environment.
The official selection process will start on September 1 st with incorporation as soon as this process is completed, but the candidates need to be included in the CSIC hiring electronic site
during Spring 2018.
