IMAPING Research Group of the Institute for Sustainable Agriculture – CSIC, awarded in ExpoMilano 2015
IMAPING Research Group (Remote Sensing for Precision Agriculture and Weed Science) of the Institute for Sustainable Agriculture – CSIC (Spanish National Research Council) in Cordoba, Spain (www.ias.csic.es/en/imaping), received last June 4th the “Challenges Project” Award of the Agriculture, Food and Environment Spanish Ministry” (MAGRAMA) within of the program “Challenges about innovative good practices in food and sustainability” (http://www.pabellonespana2015.com/desafios/en). This award was conceded in the Pavilion of Spain of the ExpoMilano 2015. Out of one hundred and twenty six candidatures received, nine initiatives were awarded, one of them being the IMAPING Group.
The IMAPING research project title was “Drones to weed control in farm crops”. This project was included within the Challenge # 3 titled “Strengthening Agricultural Innovation to feed the Planet”. The representatives of the nine initiatives awarded received a certificate by BsMs. Isabel García-Tejerina, MAGRAMA Minister. Ms. García-Tejerina declared in Milan that the Spanish Government “believes in our agrifood sector and works for going on its huge potential development”, after emphasizing it is “one of the biggest values of the Spanish Mark”.
ExpoMilano 2015, which relieves to Expo 2010 of Shangai, started the last May 1st and will finish the next October 31st. Its slogan “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life”, expects to meet to 150 countries and international organizations. The Expo-Milano 2015 hopes to receive more than 20 million visitors to participate in a unique experience of educative free time that pretends to involucrate in an active way to all its visitors.
