• IAS-CSIC Announces a Predoctoral Research Training Position on “Improving the Modelling and Monitoring of Water Erosion under Mediterranean Conditions through the Integration of High-Resolution Satellite Remote Sensing and Digital Information Derived from the CAP and Other Public Programmes”

This three-year predoctoral contract aims to train a specialist in water erosion monitoring and modelling, combining fieldwork with advanced modelling approaches that integrate high-resolution digital and satellite data sources.

The position will be developed within the coordinated project “Developing and Validating an Integrated Methodology for the Implementation and Monitoring of Vegetation-Based Practices for Restoring the Sustainability of Mediterranean Agricultural Landscapes” (2024–2028). The project consists of two subprojects involving researchers from CSIC (IAS in Córdoba and CEBAS), the University of Jaén, the University of Córdoba, and IFAPA.

The successful candidate will be based at IAS-CSIC in Córdoba and will follow a training programme supervised by senior researchers from IAS-CSIC, including Dr. José A. Gómez (Principal Investigator of Subproject 1), and the University of Jaén, represented by Prof. Jorge Delgado, with the collaboration of Dr. Gema Guzmán (Principal Investigator of Subproject 2).

The training programme, aimed at obtaining a PhD with International Mention, will be structured around the candidate’s participation in the project’s research activities. Within this framework, the researcher will undertake research stays in different laboratories as part of the Agricultural, Food, Forestry and Sustainable Rural Development Engineering Doctoral Programme.

Candidate Profile

Applicants with a background in soil science, programming, the use of simulation models, and remote sensing tools will be particularly valued. Good command of written and spoken English, as well as the ability to work effectively as part of a research team, will also be considered important assets.
