Objectives of the research
- To analyse the environmental suitability for plant pathogens in crops and natural vegetation using epidemiological models.
- To identify plant traits linked to pathogen infections using spectral imaging analysis.
- To detect vegetation stress overtime and space using satellite image analysis.
Candidate Profile / experience (Not all required)
Educational Background:
- Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.)/Engineering (Ing.) in Biology, Agronomy, Biochemistry, or an equivalent field.
- Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Agronomy, Information Technologies for Agriculture & Forestry, or an equivalent field.
Technical Expertise:
- Proficient in programming languages such as R and Python, with a focus on data analysis and modelling.
- Experience with epidemiological modelling in agricultural settings.
- Familiarity with spectral imaging analysis and its application to plant pathology.
- Demonstrated ability in satellite image analysis and remote sensing for vegetation monitoring.
Research and Analytical Skills:
- Ability to design, implement, and interpret results from epidemiological models.
- Skilled in identifying plant traits using advanced imaging techniques.
- Competent in analyzing spatial and temporal vegetation stress using remote sensing data.
Communication Skills:
- High level of proficiency in the English language, capable of producing scientific reports and presenting findings at an international level.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary research team.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience with Geographic Information System (GIS) platforms for spatial analysis.
- Knowledge of advanced statistical methods and machine learning techniques relevant to biological data.
- Publications or a strong track record in relevant fields.
- Practical experience in fieldwork related to crop management and pathogen/pests/weeds.
